About

Ineke Vermaas portrait

Ineke Vermaas (born 1977, De Bilt) is a fibre artist based in Utrecht. She works with wool, paper, plant fibres, and sometimes things she finds — materials that are mostly humble, natural, or that speak loudly to her.

Her pieces are soft and tactile, made slowly and with intention. To be worn, to be seen, on the body or a wall.

Her work draws from personal experience — travel, people she meets, and subjects that carry real weight for her. Nature is a constant presence, less as subject than as sensibility: a way of paying attention to what is small, found, and felt.

Ineke is self-taught outside of formal institutions, and has sought out some of the most respected names in contemporary fibre and felt art to deepen her practice.
